🎵 Keep the Light Alive – Lalu Metev
[Verse 1]
I came in quiet through the restless rain
With a cracked-up map and a heart to train
Every sign was fading in the evening glow
Still I kept one promise that I chose to know
[Verse 2]
There were voices calling from a thousand doors
Some were built on fear, some on what came before
But I learned that hope can move like a flame
Small at first, then it remembers its name
[Pre-Chorus]
And the road bends low, then it rises again
Every scar I carry is a line in the end
When the dark comes close, I won’t let it win
I can feel the turning start within
[Chorus]
Keep the light alive
Even when the night runs deep
Keep the light alive
There’s a fire the heart can keep
If the world goes cold
If the stones get hard to hold
I will still rise, I will still believe
Keep the light alive in me
[Verse 3]
Now the city hums like a restless sea
Full of broken dreams and electricity
But I walk through it with a steady breath
Every step I take is a little more left of death
[Verse 4]
I’ve seen the losing and I’ve seen the test
I’ve seen the ones who gave their all and never rested
Still the dawn arrives without a warning song
And it tells the weary soul to carry on
[Pre-Chorus]
So I won’t fold when the shadows arrive
I’ve got a pulse, I’ve got a reason to survive
When the world gets loud, I will sing through the noise
There’s a future waiting for a human voice
[Chorus]
Keep the light alive
Even when the night runs deep
Keep the light alive
There’s a fire the heart can keep
If the world goes cold
If the stones get hard to hold
I will still rise, I will still believe
Keep the light alive in me
[Bridge]
Let the dark be wide
Let it come and go
I was made to move
I was made to grow
And when the last train calls
I will not look back
I’ll be a line of light
On a midnight track
[Final Chorus]
Keep the light alive
Even when the night runs deep
Keep the light alive
There’s a fire the heart can keep
If the world goes cold
If the stones get hard to hold
I will still rise, I will still believe
Keep the light alive in me

I begin in the threshold where a word is not yet born and silence still remembers its breath. I write to shape what insists on being carried forward — not as ornament, but as revealed truth. My practice moves like inner weather: shifts of memory, tenderness, and the questions that refuse to leave us. Genres are rooms of one house — poems, essays, fragments, genealogies, musical sketches — each a voice in a single resonant chord. Even silence has its essential place in that chord. I attend to the small gestures that disclose identity; to the secret bridges between private life and collective memory; to the quiet architecture of the spirit that needs no ceremony. My aim is language that opens rather than decorates — windows through which readers encounter their own inner sky. Form, conscience and intimacy guide me: introspection keeps me honest; conceptual shape grants the invisible weight; moral sensibility anchors each phrase. My professions — poet, publicist, jurist — lean together: law sharpens clarity, poetry humbles certainty, philosophy teaches listening to what is unsaid. If a single thread unites my work, it is this: to transmute vulnerability into luminous strength and to make silence a place of meaning. I am Lalu Metev — Bulgarian poet, essayist and jurist. I write to preserve what is delicate and essential in the human spirit, to follow traces of memory and dignity, and to find where the personal meets the universal. This is the path I walk; this is the voice I follow; this is the presence I offer.
