Unpunished Goodness – Lalu Metev
(English)
🎵 Title: Unpunished Goodness
(Verse 1)
One life and one small parable
about unpunished goodness in the dark
lead back to one hard, simple truth:
the worth of every gentle act
is not the prize that we may get,
but whether we, as one, will guard
and recognise the good among us.
(Verse 2)
When those in power speak in gold,
while in the shadows they exile,
take homes, take freedom without blame,
they send a message to our hearts:
“Do not be merciful or brave,
do not stand close, you’ll pay the price.”
Our work is memory and repair,
to hold a ground beneath the kind,
so unpunished goodness stands
not as a tragedy, but truth.
(Verse 3)
The tenant, the benefactor, and the judge –
a mirror of our broken world.
Goodness does not always meet with justice,
law and conscience split apart,
and human weakness is a law.
Yet still we must not drop our kindness
out of fear of what is wrong;
we have to build a way of life
where words and actions lift the good.
(Verse 4)
Dear brothers, dear beloved sisters,
if you must blame me, do it now –
but do not throw a real stone.
Throw the symbolic stone you hold.
While I am pressed down to the ground,
let your rebuke be clear and true,
but let it also be a mirror:
if you will judge this falling man,
then mourn as well what we all lacked
to keep this fall from taking shape.
(Chorus – can repeat after verses)
Unpunished goodness, don’t let it die alone,
keep it like a quiet flame, a seed for those to come.
Even if the world turns its back and looks away,
we will carry all that good as honour we have shared.

Тагове:
I begin in the threshold where a word is not yet born and silence still remembers its breath. I write to shape what insists on being carried forward — not as ornament, but as revealed truth. My practice moves like inner weather: shifts of memory, tenderness, and the questions that refuse to leave us. Genres are rooms of one house — poems, essays, fragments, genealogies, musical sketches — each a voice in a single resonant chord. Even silence has its essential place in that chord. I attend to the small gestures that disclose identity; to the secret bridges between private life and collective memory; to the quiet architecture of the spirit that needs no ceremony. My aim is language that opens rather than decorates — windows through which readers encounter their own inner sky. Form, conscience and intimacy guide me: introspection keeps me honest; conceptual shape grants the invisible weight; moral sensibility anchors each phrase. My professions — poet, publicist, jurist — lean together: law sharpens clarity, poetry humbles certainty, philosophy teaches listening to what is unsaid. If a single thread unites my work, it is this: to transmute vulnerability into luminous strength and to make silence a place of meaning. I am Lalu Metev — Bulgarian poet, essayist and jurist. I write to preserve what is delicate and essential in the human spirit, to follow traces of memory and dignity, and to find where the personal meets the universal. This is the path I walk; this is the voice I follow; this is the presence I offer.
