🎵 “The Lion and the Cross” – short presentation (EN)

This song is part of a broader theological narrative about Judah, the fourth son of Jacob, and how repentance can become a source of true kingship. Instead of portraying leadership as the privilege of the faultless, the lyrics place at the center the person who admits guilt and is willing to pay the price for the other.

The first verse shows Judah in his darkest hour – a brother sold, justice shattered, dust on his hands, and heavy shame. From there, the song does not move toward moralistic guilt but toward the birth of responsibility: not escape, but a life rebuilt as a living temple. The second verse shifts to Egypt, where the same man who once proposed selling Joseph is now ready to give up his own freedom to save Benjamin. This is the turning point where a fallen brother becomes a true leader.

The chorus unfolds the song’s theological axis: the Kingdom does not come by sword or golden throne, but is born in the quiet place where the cross becomes a beginning; the true “Lion” does not roar from power, but keeps silent and bears wounds, and a king is the one who falls – yet stands his ground for his brother. The bridge brings the theme down to an existential level: the real question is not whether we fall, but whether we rise for the sake of another, whether our guilt becomes a bridge or a grave for our own soul.

The finale links the Old Testament story to the Gospel horizon: “From Judah to the Cross the road is one – through repentance, through love. The Lion becomes the Lamb, and power becomes blood and a calling.” It points to Christ, the Lion of the tribe of Judah who conquers as the slain Lamb, and to the idea that true authority is revealed not in domination, but in sacrificial love.

🎵 “The Lion and the Cross”
(Repentance as the source of kingship)

Verse 1
Not the faultless writes our history,
but the one who owns his night.
Not the birthright, not bare power,
but a heart that bears its guilt in light.
A brother sold and justice broken,
dust‑stained hands and heavy shame;
yet in the dark, truth turns to calling –
not flight, but a temple raised from blame.

Chorus
The Kingdom does not come by sword,
nor with a golden, distant throne.
It’s born within the quiet place,
where the cross becomes the starting stone.
The Lion does not roar by force,
but keeps his wounds and makes no sound.
A king is one who falls to earth –
and for his brother still stands ground.

Verse 2
In Egypt, standing before power’s face,
he trades his freedom for his brother’s life.
The very one who sold that life away
now gives it back, without a price.
Here not the law, but conscience speaks,
no fear, but chosen sacrifice;
from slavery grows a shepherd’s hand,
from shame – a face that dares to rise.

Chorus (variation)
The Kingdom does not seize, but gives,
does not rule by crushing down.
The truest strength is that which pardons,
and from the cross pours radiant crown.

Bridge – Existential (almost a whisper)
The question is not if you’re falling,
but if you rise up for the other.
Will your guilt turn into a bridge,
or be a grave for your own spirit?

Finale (Coda)
From Judah’s field to Calvary’s hill
it is one and the selfsame road:
through repentance, through love’s fire –
where Lion becomes the Lamb of God,
and every power thins to blood
and to a cry that calls us home.

Strophe I

kein Angstschrei, sondern reifer Opfermut.

Refrain (Variante)
Das Reich nimmt nicht, es schenkt,
beherrscht nicht – lдsst sich durchbohren.
Die wahre Kraft ist, die verzeiht
und vom Kreuz her Licht verstrцmt.

Bridge (existentiell, fast geflьstert)

Finale (Coda)
Von Juda bis zum Kreuz – derselbe Weg,
durch Reue hindurch, durch Liebe hindurch.
Der Lowe wird zum Lamm,
und jede Macht zu Blut und Ruf

1. meteff - Artist Statement — Lyrical Version
26.01 03:22
I begin in the threshold where a word is not yet born and silence still remembers its breath. I write to shape what insists on being carried forward — not as ornament, but as revealed truth. My practice moves like inner weather: shifts of memory, tenderness, and the questions that refuse to leave us. Genres are rooms of one house — poems, essays, fragments, genealogies, musical sketches — each a voice in a single resonant chord. Even silence has its essential place in that chord. I attend to the small gestures that disclose identity; to the secret bridges between private life and collective memory; to the quiet architecture of the spirit that needs no ceremony. My aim is language that opens rather than decorates — windows through which readers encounter their own inner sky. Form, conscience and intimacy guide me: introspection keeps me honest; conceptual shape grants the invisible weight; moral sensibility anchors each phrase. My professions — poet, publicist, jurist — lean together: law sharpens clarity, poetry humbles certainty, philosophy teaches listening to what is unsaid. If a single thread unites my work, it is this: to transmute vulnerability into luminous strength and to make silence a place of meaning. I am Lalu Metev — Bulgarian poet, essayist and jurist. I write to preserve what is delicate and essential in the human spirit, to follow traces of memory and dignity, and to find where the personal meets the universal. This is the path I walk; this is the voice I follow; this is the presence I offer.
